Once you restart normally you should see that most of the missing drive space has been restored and hopefully you won't get the full drive warning again.Īs for the system apparently taking up 90GB - well that's a well known bug. This safe mode restart will take longer than a normal startup because the disk drive is being checked and the before mentioned logs and caches are being dealt with. The quick solution is to restart your computer in safe mode. These logs and temporary files are supposed to be trimmed and/or deleted regularly but on rare occasions this doesn't happen. The computer automatically collects information and puts it into log files and programs create temporary files. Since I'm a techie I had a pretty good idea what happened and I suspect the cause is the same for your computer. So I call Apple Tech Support and the person tells me that you can't delete the system storage because that is what runs the computer. I freaked out and deleted almost everything on my laptop, from apps to assignments to music. Yesterday, I get a notification saying my storage is almost full. I never had much space being taken up anyway, and the last time I was a month ago and it was BELOW the halfway mark on the bar. I alway check my storage regularly, I don't know why, but I like knowing.
